Well our new season seems to have got off to a great start!
So many new faces!
It was absolutely brilliant to see so many visitors last night;
– Some of whom we’d met at our promotional event in the town square a couple of weeks ago,
– Some we’d met at our most recent summer event in Baldock,
– Some had been in contact with the club by email before the event, and
– Some who simply turned up on the night.
Although I tried to say “hello” to all of the new faces, I know there were a couple who I missed, so apologies for that and I look forward to talking to you soon.
Introduction and Welcome
As in previous years we started with a welcome and then introduction to the club. Then moved on to a full run down of the programme from Steve.

The 2019-2020 Programme
It looks like Steve’s put together another really interesting programme with both some old favourites coming to visit us including the ever popular Bob Brind-Surch and former club member now full time professional Rafe Abrook and well as some brand new presenters. (Click here to see the full programme).

Steve’s review of the programme also included details of all of the club’s competitions including this year’s changing competitions which are Fashion on the 28th November and Close-up on 19th March.
If you’re new to the club and want to learn more about competitions why not check-out the Competitions menu above, where you’ll find all sorts of guidance including this handy introduction to competitions (Competition Guidelines).
Becoming a member
We then rounded of part one of the evening with some details about membership from Jeremy. (Full details can be found here)

The second half of the evening was devoted to 2 presentations;
Backups and workflow

I spoke about the importance of Backups. This seemed to be a very popular subject with lots of people asking questions though out the presentation.
Insect Photography

Jeremy then spoke about insect photography, including our recent Summer events to Sharpenhoe Clappers and Duck End nature reserve, and as well as showing us some his amazing images and giving us some incites into how he achieved them.
Thanks to Dave Radford, for taking photos on the evening
