Despite the rain a number of the club members meet in Ashwell for our post Christmas Photo-walk. fortunately after about 20 minutes the rain eased off and we were able to enjoy a guided walk around Ashwell lead bu one of our new members this year Steven.
Steven started by taking us down towards the famous stepping stones and then looping round towards the mill “sympathetically” renovated in the 70’s. From there we walked up to St Mary’s church which is unusual in that only 3 sides of the tower have clock faces (to prevent the workers in the fields from clock-watching). The church was open so we were able to go in and look around, before heading out past the Bushel and Strike public house back up towards the high street and back to our starting point.
Everyone agreed there was a lot to see and we look forward to going back there again, but perhaps on a bright sunny day, so we can enjoy everything the village has to offer.
Here are some photos from Chris, Thomas and myself;
