The club has been contacted by Kristian Day from the Broadway Gallery asking our members would like to take part in the Photo Letchworth competition.

According their website…

Broadway Gallery is pleased to announce an open call for PHOTO LETCHWORTH a new photography competition and exhibition, open to residents of Letchworth and the surrounding area. The selection panel of Cassie Beadle (Cob Gallery, London), Anstice Oakshott (The Photographers Gallery, London) and photographer Chris Frazer Smith will be choosing 20 finalists whose work will be installed in the main gallery as a supporting exhibition to Cornelia Parker’s One Day This Glass Will Break. The winner of the £500 prize, however, will be chosen by the gallery’s visitors in a public vote.

Entries for the exhibition will be judged on the following criteria*:

– Experimentation

– Composition

– Subject matter

*Please note that the above criteria are open to interpretation, designed to give applicants freedom of expression and encouragement to experiment.

It’s all about art…

Having spoken to Kris this competition is as much about art as it is about photography, so if you’re planning to enter make sure to choose your most “Artistic images”.
If you’re interested in seeing some of Cornelia Parker’s work the following YouTube link will be of interest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OLRLzfTRy0 and my help guide you in your selection of images.

How to enter…

To enter PHOTO LETCHWORTH please send an entry form to broadway@letchworth.com along with up to 3 hi-res images (.jpg or .png preferred). Please also include a brief biography and a description of the submitted works.
