Match-A-Slide and Charity Auction – Update

Andy    October 8, 2021

For our first meeting in October we re-ran an old favourite of the Camera Club, the Match-A-Slide competition! For those who couldn’t attend, this was a fun social event designed to get people chatting with other but also talking about photos and photography.

However, before the start of the evening proper, Marcus (who seems to have a talent for extortion) acted as Auctioneer for a Charity Book Auction in aid of the The Disabled Photographic Society. Following donations of photography related books from several members we were able to raise over £100, which absolutely fantastic! Well done everyone.

Early in the competition, Team Kodak have lots of images to choose from.

After the auction, started the evening by splitting the members in to 3 teams; Agfa, Ilford and Kodak. Once in their teams and Andy explained the rules of the competition and did a demonstration, and the games began…

Are these a match?… Well they’re both “Steaks in water”

As usual there was more than a little silliness with bonus points on offer for complimenting the judge, and penalty points for too much heckling, however everyone was perfectly happy to join in with the fun, even if the puns were awful!

Tension mounts with half the images played, and judging in full flow

The competition was close run thing, with 2 teams drawing after the final round had been played, however the allocation of a bonus point from Marcus gave the victory to Team Ilford, who’d played consistently well all evening.
