Why not join us for a walk through the country side from pretty village of Pirton, up towards Deacons Hill along part of the Icknield Way (You can learn more about the Icknield way here).
We’ll meet at the Motte & Bailey pub at 2:00 PM, before walking around to the junction of Great Green and Priors Hill, where we’ll follow the unpaved track up towards the B656 and the Knocking Hoe National Nature reserve. For those looking for a further challenge the walk up to and views from Deacon’s Hill await. On the walk there will be lots of opportunities for photos of and over the Hertfordshire countryside.
The route is quite straightforward and about 5 miles there and back, although I would warn you on the way out it’s uphill all the way, although that does mean it’s downhill, all the way back! The majority of the route is almost entirely off-road, so make sure you wear suitable footwear and dress appropriately.
