During the summer of 2018 the Summer Events were completely re-vamped. In previous years the summer events were simply the opportunity to meet-up for a drink and a chat, however the summer events programme is now intended to allow members and guests to get out and “do” photography.
Prior to the end of the season in May a timetable is published with 5 or 6 events spread across the summer stating when and where we’ll be meeting, who will be leading the evening (usually a committee member) and what we hope to shoot. The meetings are held on the usual Camera Club Thursday evening and start at around 7:00 PM to make the best of the light.
Everyone is responsible for getting themselves to the meeting point, however once there the leader will give a quick overview of what to look out for, and the more experienced photographers will often give tips shooting technique.
Some of our Summer Events have included;
- Hitchin – itself for a photowalk at dusk around the historic town centre.
- Letchworth – for a photowalk at night.
- Campton Plantation – For walk in the wood to see the sculptures
- Sharpenhoe Clappers – for Butterfly photography
Possibly the most successful and popular summer event is the “Scavenger Hunt”. For the last few years we’ve been give just 2 hours to shoot 25 named subjects. Follow this link to learn more about the 2021 Scavenger hunt Scavenger Hunt III – Photos – Hitchin Camera Club
