If you’re interested in joining Hitchin Camera Club you’re welcome to attend as a guest to “try us out”. As a visitor we’ll ask you for a small attendance fee for each session, but you’ll be able to take part in all club activities with the exception of competitions (you can attend but not submit entries for judging).
New Members welcome
We’ve written a New Member’s Pack which we give to potential members to tell them a little bit about the club, and to help them fit easily into the club, by telling them about our evenings and giving them a few pointers to get their photography off to a flying start.

To encourage new members to take part in competitions all new members have a chance to win the New Member’s Trophy. This is awarded at the AGM to the member who in their first 2 years with the club has scored most points in the overall Print and digital competitions.
Need help? Ask for a mentor
If you’re relatively new to photography, need some guidance about your photography or equipment, or simply need someone to help you choose which pictures to enter into a competition a number of the more experienced members of the club have agreed to be mentors to specifically help anyone who needs a nudge in the right direction.
If you’d like to be “buddied-up” with a mentor just ask one of the committee and they’ll make the introductions there and then.
How to Join
Joining is simple! Just speak to the membership secretary (currently Jeremy Lintott – you can see his picture here), he’ll take the relevant fee from you and will give you a membership card, a programme card for the year and will add you to our emailing list*.
Being a member allows you to attend all meetings without a paying an attendance fee, allows entry into competition, and allows you to attend and partake in the AGM.
*Although we offer an email opt-out, email is one of the main ways we update our members and let them know about any changes to the programme.

New members should come to a meeting and speak to the membership secretary (or any committee member) since we ask you to fill in a membership form.
To renew your membership you may pay by bank transfer (the preferred method), cash or cheque.
