Guidelines on Subject Matter
What type of pictures are eligible for submission to a competition?
These are purely guidelines for this season’s competitions. The decision on whether an image conforms to the Competition subject is that of the judge or the Competition Secretary. If in doubt ask the Competition Secretary or another Committee member.
Open:
This includes any subject.
Natural History:
This includes images of plants, animals and fungi living in a natural environment. It also includes flowers, trees, birds and insects. It also includes animals in zoos and safari parks (but do avoid showing people or wire netting!). It excludes domestic animals, pets and farm animals.
Quirky:
Images should show eccentricity or humour in humans, animals or things.
Landscape:
This is generally the portrayal of a place. It includes land (wild or cultivated), sea, urban, industrial, sky and even the weather.
Weather:
Images should show natural atmospheric conditions such as moisture, snow, cloud, temperature, wind or pressure..
