Assignments
There will be 3 assignment sessions during the year
(11th October, 6th December, 14th February).
The aim of the assignments is to promote photography and encourage everyone to get out, shoot some photos and to enjoy discussing their images.
The assignments will run as follows;
6 weeks before the assignment evening 2 subjects will be announced. You simply need to shoot some pictures that fit the assignment and send them in before the assignment evening as you would for a competition. This year we've had to limit each member to six images in total. This can be 3 for each theme for example, or 2 and 4, or all 6 on one theme.
On the assignment evening, we will take turns showing our images and discussing them with other club members. There will be a facillitator to encourage the discussion.
The assignments are non-competitive.
Assignment photos should be shot specifically for the assignment.
How to get the best from the assignment evenings;
Bring along your images & join in the discussions.
Don’t just bring your best shots, we’d positively encourage members to come along and ask advice.
Compliment the photographer on images you like and ask them how or why they took the shot as they did.
Enjoy the evening!
Assignment Themes:
The themes for the Third assignment will be:
"Unnatural History"
"Natural" history photography is very specific in what is or isn't valid for competition, and the general rule is that anything cultivated or in captivity is ineligible for "Natural" history (see the competitions page for the details of exactly what's allowed). In this assignment we'll ask for pictures of domestic animals, garden flowers, zoo animals anything that wouldn't be allowed for "Natural" History.
"Hearts & Flowers"
Since it will be Valentines Day, we'd like to invite you to take photos illustrating the theme of "romance".
As usual you will be able to submit a maximum of six digital images in total. These should be emailed to competitions@hitchincameraclub.org no later than Tuesday 12th February.
